Book Scanning

Turn your hardcopy books into searchable PDF files with our non-destructive book scanning service.

Hong Kong Imaging offers non-destructive scanning of perfectly bound or saddle-stitched books, magazines, and other print media up to A4 size with resolution up to 600 dpi. The book scanning service applies to books that will be scanned in their entirety.

During the scanning process, we preserve the original state of the book. It is not required to cut off the binding of the book or remove the spine.

Upon scanning each page of the book, we crop and rotate the images, and produce a multi-page PDF file for your digital archive.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) can also be applied on printed textual materials to produce a Searchable Multi-Page PDF file, in order enhance document searchability and provide full access to the content of the digitized version. OCR accuracy depends on a number of factors, including the condition of the original document, the contrast of the characters, the text language, and is usually in the range of 95% to 99%.

The book scanning process described here is designed to digitize printed media and make it accessible on digital devices. If the goal of your book scanning project is to re-publish the book in print format, a different process is required. Please, contact us for more information.
